Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Our Vision

For everyone at CGS to enjoy, achieve and belong and for our students to be exceptionally well prepared for life.

Our EDI Mission

To broaden and enrich our inclusive environment at CGS where every individual is empowered to thrive, enjoy, achieve and have a strong sense of belonging within this vibrant community.

Our values underpin everything that we do.

Aspiration   Kindness   Respect

Our Equality Duty

The Equality Act 2010 introduced a Public Sector Equality Duty, which requires all public bodies to have due regard to the need to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.

Protected Characteristics

The Equality Act identifies nine protected characteristics, such as age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. However, it's crucial to recognise that there are other intersecting characteristics, as well as those not explicitly mentioned, that we actively support and advocate for in our EDI work.

Equality Objectives

Schools are required to establish at least one equality objective to address any areas of inequality, or possible inequality, identified. Please see our Equality Information and Objectives Statement for further information.

Meet Aarav

Since the start of Year 7 I have been an active part of the CGS community. Looking to give back to CGS, I will play a role within EDI in supporting the development of a community built on greater respect and acceptance. I also hope to gain skills such as public speaking, which I can use beyond CGS.

Meet Bani

I’m really looking forward to being part of the EDI SSLT and helping to foster a school environment where everyone feels respected, included, and able to be themselves. I’m particularly interested in working collaboratively to ensure all voices are heard and everyone feels a sense of belonging.
