LGBTQ+

As a school, we are committed to creating an inclusive school environment where every individual is empowered to thrive, enjoy, achieve and have a strong sense of belonging within this vibrant community. This includes LGBTQ+ students and their allies. There is an active student Pride club that meets each week on Tuesday lunchtime and throughout the year we also look to celebrate LGBTQ+ History and Protest during LGBTQ+ History Month and Pride Month.

We do not tolerate any form of discrimination and this includes regarding the protected characteristics of sexuality or gender identity. This is included within whole school messaging as part of these celebrations, but also through our Life Skills programme where we are able to address issues in more depth and in age appropriate ways.

Young Minds provide a helpful source of support about issues relating to young people and their mental health. On their website, they also provide further information about gender identity - https://www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/parents-a-z-mental-health-guide/gender-identity/
