Year 11 Post 16 Options

Last night, we welcomed students in year 11 and their parents to our Post 16 Information Evening to outline the options available after GCSEs. The presentation has been shared with parents today and next week, we begin the process in school of helping the students to make their A level choices. Please let us know if there is anything you would like to discuss with us in relation to this important decision in your child's life if s/he is in year 11. During the evening, Mrs Lovelace, our Careers and Enterprise Leader, outlined the alternative options to A levels and the latest Careers Newsletter which Mrs Lovelace has put together can be found here. This is full of useful information so please do take some time to read it.

Covid-19 and Lateral Flow Testing

We have been notified of a number of positive cases of Covid-19 this week. We are obviously monitoring the situation closely and are liaising with Public Health as appropriate so that we can do everything possible to minimise any disruption to education. Please can I reiterate the request that parents encourage their child to continue with the twice weekly lateral flow testing at home? We ask for this to take place on Wednesdays and Sundays. Any positive cases should be reported via our website and to the NHS website. Thank you for your continued support.

Well done to...

Aadit in year 9 has passed his Tabla (Indian drums) grade 3 exam with distinction and two of our students have recently beenselectedforCountysquads. Francescainyear9isthe youngest player to be selected for the U15 South Bucks County netball programme while Oscar in year 8 has been selected for the Herts U13 hockey squad. Congratulations to them all.

Birthday Teas

It was a pleasure to meet with Emily, Theo, Krrish, Alex and Millie in year 7 who have just turned 12 and with Osian, Lola, Isobel and Ethan in year 13 who have celebrated their 18th recently. Happy birthday to them all and also to Marcus, Lily, Eleanor and Skye in year 7 and Elise, Karl, Aidan, Archie and Karthik in year 13, with whom I have also met for birthday tea recently.

Sport this week

We have once again had a number of fixtures in netball, football and rugby and it was wonderful to see every single court and pitch in use after school on Monday with over 100 students taking part in matches or practices. Notable highlights this week include our year 8 netballers who beat St Mary's 6-1 and our U16 girls who progress to the fourth round of football's National Cup Competition, having won 6-2 v The Cherwell School. Amelia in year 11 scored five of the goals! The team will play Bohunt School in Wokingham in the next round. On Monday, two year 7 football teams played v DCGS, one team winning and one losing while our year 10 boys' football team beat The Misbourne school at the start of the week but sadly lost 2-1 in the third round of the National Cup to Samuel Whitbread Academy.

We also had several teams taking part in the Bucks round of the ESAA Cross Country Cup on Tuesday. All the students ran well and Mr Stoddern and Mr Pontin were very proud of the overall performance. Special mention to the Junior Girls, Megan in year 7 and Sophie, Issy, Catherine and Tegan in year 8, who won their team competition and to the Intermediate Boys, Callum and Isacc in year 9 and Sean, Adam, Archie and Euan in year 10, who finished second in their competition. This means that the Junior Girls and Intermediate Boys both progress to the Regional round. Well done all and thank you to Mr Stoddern and Mr Pontin.

Flying Mrs Rasekh!

Next weekend, Mrs Rasekh will be getting her half term break off to a flying start by running the Liverpool Rock and Roll Marathon to raise money for The Lullaby Trust, a charity which raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and offers emotional support for bereaved families. We wish her every success. If anyone would like to support her, please go to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/marionrasekh

Finally, a reminder that we finish for half term on Thursday of next week.
