On the Day Absence
Parents/Carers should notify the school of a child's absence via their MCAS (MyChildAtSchool) account (select Attendance > Report an absence from the dashboard).
If you are unable to do so via MCAS, please notify the school by telephone or email before 08:45 stating clearly the reason for absence, with Student Name, Tutor Group and Year Group.
In the case of illness, please contact the school every morning of absence confirming symptoms for our records.
Should a child feel unwell during the course of the school day, they should speak to their teacher in the first instance if they are in a lesson, or go to see Matron. Students should not call home to be collected. Matron will make contact, if necessary, following assessment.
Future Absence
Please, where possible, make medical or dental appointments outside of school hours.
For medical or dental appointments or assessments, and external exams (e.g. ABRSM, LAMDA, driving tests) within school hours, please notify the school of your child's absence in advance, via MCAS.
It is expected that students will attend school prior to and after any such appointment in order to minimise absence from lessons. Students must be met at school by parents when leaving for an appointment and should sign out and back in with the Attendance Officer on their return.
All Other Absences
A Leave of Absence Application to the Headteacher should be completed, in advance, for absence for holidays or family events, etc.
Please refer to our Attendance Policy and Procedures for further information.
